If you are expecting or recently gave birth, one thing you should know is that the early postpartum days are sweet but fleeting, so savor every moment!
uMa Birth Village offers postpartum support to help you and the entire family transition into the next stage of life with a newborn. Please see below to learn how our services can benefit you and your family.
How It Works
Postpartum support is tailored to your individual needs. Each postpartum visit must be scheduled for a minimum of four hours and a maximum seven hours.
Availability
Daytime – 9 AM to 4 PM
Overnight – 10 PM to 6 AM
Whats Included
A postpartum planning session (virtual or in-home to plan for support)
Newborn care education
Breastfeeding/chest feeding/bottle feeding
Light housekeeping (i.e., wipe counters, light sweeping, baby’s laundry)
Meal preparation or planning
Running errands (i.e., pharmacy, grocery store, etc.)
Babywearing support
Infant bonding
Sibling support (assisting siblings transition to their new roles as big brother or big sister)

Requirements
Resting area for doula (i.e., daybed, futon, etc.) 72 hours advance notice required to begin services.

A birth doula is a trained professional who provides physical, emotional, and educational support to parents and families during the prenatal, birth and postpartum periods.
Birth doulas offer support from the time of hire through your labor and birth, and are also there for you as you transition into the early postpartum period. Doula support includes: prenatal visits, telephone and email support, educational resources, help to achieve optimal fetal positioning, assistance with various labor and birth positions, essential oils and other comfort techniques, breastfeeding support and much more.
You can hire a doula as early as the first trimester and as late as the third trimester. The sooner you hire a doula, the sooner you will have support for the prenatal stage which equals more time to build a secure and trusting relationship with your doula before giving birth.
We support all births! Medicated, unmedicated, vaginal, cesarean, VBAC–the choice is yours, birth your way.
Yes, we attend home births with a Certified Midwife (CM) or Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) in attendance. You choose where you give birth and we will be there. Our support extends to birthing centers and hospitals alike.
